While doing the annual holiday shopping, I was reminded of my days working in retail. We would always need to bring in temporary workers to handle the extra customers.  While spending time training short term employees was always a hassle, I was always impressed with the enthusiasm and energy of the short term employees.

The regular staff hated the holidays because they had to work harder and longer and it showed in their attitude.  The temporary staffed loved coming to work because they needed the extra money and was appreciative of the opportunity to possibly get a full time position after the holidays.  It showed in their attitude as well, but in a positive way.

Which of those employees would you want handling your customers? Experience is not always as important as attitude and enthusiasm.
